1969 Mini Cooper - Complete Restoration
This Project has just been completed and is now up for sale - please get in touch if you are interested or have any questions.
For the full story of the restoration from start to finish check the blog, but here's a brief overview and links to some pictures.
The car is a 1969 998cc Mini Cooper (not an 'S' but a Cooper all the same).
The great part about the "find" is that is has the original body, which has been patched and welded before, so is not entirely original, but thats hardly a surprise for a 42 year old car. plus it's also got the original engine and gearbox, so as they say it's a "matching numbers" original.
Now it's fully restored it really is something very special indeed.
It was bought in November 2009 and it sat waiting for the work to start for a couple of months (while the house recieved some DIY attension. It happens to the best of us!) So the real work started in February 2010 and it has taken just over a year to complete.
To say it has recieved an extensive restoration is an understatement, the body has been paired back to the solid panels and rebuilt where necessary with new parts sourced from Heriatage. Every single component on the car has been removed, inspected, overhauled, restored or replaced, and that includes the exterior, interior, engine, gear box, suspension and wiring. The finished article is "as new" and "as original" within practicle boundaries.
I have uploaded a few "before" photos and a lot of "during" photos, but for it's current condition please take a look at the high resolution "finished" pictures.
